What is Juluca?
Juluca is a combination-prescription medicine that is used to treat the Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1 (HIV-1) in adults. HIV is the virus that causes Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Juluca works by stopping the virus from multiplying in your body. Juluca can be used along with other antiretroviral medicines or as a stand-alone treatment for HIV-1. It contains dolutegravir and rilpivirine. This medication has not been tested for use in children.
Do not use Juluca if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or if you are taking medicines that contain dofetilide, carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, rifampin or rifapentine. If you are using a proton pump inhibitor or more than one dose of the steroid medicines dexamethasone or dexamethasone sodium phosphate, do not use Juluca. If you are taking St John's Wort, you should not use this antiretroviral.
Before taking Juluca tell your doctor about any other medical conditions you may have or if you have a history of Hepatitis B or C or other liver problems. If you are pregnant or become pregnant while taking Juluca, tell your doctor immediately. Do not breastfeed while taking Juluca. You should provide your doctor with a list of all the medications you are using including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, and herbal supplements.
You should take Juluca exactly as prescribed by your doctor. This medicine is usually taken once daily with a meal. A protein shake is an insufficient meal substitute. In case of a missed dose, contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

What are the side effects of Juluca?
Common effects of Juluca are diarrhea and headache. If you get serious side effects of this medication include a severe rash or allergic reactions. Stop taking Juluca and call your doctor immediately if you have a rash along with fever, tiredness, muscle or joint aches, blisters or sores in the mouth, liver problems including jaundice, dark urine, and loss of appetite, and depression or mood changes.
