What is Intelence?
Intelence is a brand-name prescription drug used to reduce the amount of HIV-1 virus particles in patients with HIV/AIDS. The active ingredient in Intelence, etravirine, prevents the HIV-1 virus from reproducing itself. Reducing the amount of HIV virus in the body helps prevent the opportunistic and life-threatening illnesses common to HIV/AIDS, such as cancer, pneumonia, and other opportunistic infections.
Intelence is always prescribed at a fixed dose and taken as a tablet after a meal twice daily.
What are the side effects of Intelence?
The most common side effects of Intelence are diarrhea, numbness, tingling, rash, muscle pain, fever, tiredness, kidney damage, upset stomach, sweating, and high blood sugar. Mental and mood changes include anxiety, sleep problems, strange dreams, nervousness, confusion, and disorientation. Allergic reactions are rare but potentially severe, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a potentially life-threatening reaction involving body-wide blistering, peeling, rash, fever, and other symptoms.
