This prescription drug belongs to the dibenzazepine anticonvulsants drug class and is thought to work by acting on the sodium channels in the brain which carry excessive electrical charges that may cause seizures.
Before taking Banzel let your doctor know if you have heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis); or a history of depression, mental illness, or suicidal thoughts or actions. Based on your current state of health and medical history, your doctor will decide if this drug is right for you. More than likely, your doctor will not recommend Banzel for you if you have a genetic heart rhythm disorder called "Short QT syndrome"; or severe liver disease.

If you do not want to become pregnant while taking this drug, use other forms of birth control like condoms or diaphragm with spermicide.
