What is AIRSUPRA?

AIRSUPRA is a rescue inhaler that contains both albuterol and budesonide. It combines a short-acting beta-2 agonist to widen airways and an inhaled corticosteroid to reduce inflammation in the lungs. AIRSUPRA is a first-in-class asthma medication that treats asthma symptoms and prevents asthma attacks. It is taken as needed and is not intended to replace maintenance medication. It’s approved for adults ages 18 years and older.

What doses of AIRSUPRA are available?

AIRSUPRA is taken as a dose of two inhalations as needed. Do not exceed more than 12 puffs within 24 hours. Death is possible in people who use too much AIRSUPRA.

What are the side effects of AIRSUPRA?

Common side effects of AIRSUPRA include headache, cough, hoarseness, and thrush.

Serious side effects may include:

  • Worsening trouble breathing, coughing, and wheezing (paradoxical bronchospasm)

  • Fast heart rate

  • Increased blood pressure

  • Low levels of potassium (hypokalemia)

  • Weakened immune system and increased chance of infection

  • Thrush

  • Adrenal insufficiency

  • Osteoporosis

  • Eye problems, such as glaucoma and cataracts
