Syeda is a combination birth control pill used to prevent pregnancy. This prescription drug is also used to treat moderate acne in women who are at least 14 years old and have started having menstrual periods, and who wish to use birth control pills.
Syeda is a combination of two female hormones: an estrogen (ethinyl estradiol) and a progestin (drospirenone). Ethinyl Estradiol is a semisynthetic estrogen. Ethinyl estradiol binds to the estrogen receptor complex and enters the nucleus, activating DNA transcription of genes involved in estrogenic cellular responses. While drospirenone is a synthetic type of progestin.
This drug works by making vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching and fertilizing an egg and changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body.
