What is Praluent?

Praluent is an injectable prescription drug that contains alirocumab, a human monoclonal antibody that belongs to a class of drugs called a proprotein convertase subtilisin kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitor. It works by helping the liver reduce levels of LDL cholesterol in the blood. 

Praluent is approved to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and certain types of chest pain in people with cardiovascular disease.
