However, there are many generic over-the-counter alternatives sold as Tri-B, Super-B, or Folic Acid/B-6/B-12 supplements from Trader Joe's, Superior Source, Jarrow, and many more. What is Folbee?
Folbee is a brand-name prescription B-vitamin supplement with pyridoxine (vitamin B6), folic acid (vitamin B9), and cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12). Folbee is prescribed to patients to either prevent or treat deficiencies of these vitamins due to poor nutrition, alcoholism, pregnancy, illness, or some other cause.
All the B vitamins (called B-complex vitamins) are needed by the body to convert proteins, fats, and carbohydrates into energy. In addition, Vitamins B6, B9, and B12, in particular, are necessary for the body to produce red blood cells, the means by which the blood carries oxygen to cells and tissues. Deficiencies in any of these three vitamins can cause anemia or low levels of red blood cells in the blood.
Vitamin B12 deficiency also is also important to the functioning of nerve cells. B12 deficiency causes nerve and mental disorders, including anxiety, panic, depression, and hallucinations.
What are the side effects of Folbee?
Common side effects of Folbee include but are not limited to upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea, gas, and drowsiness. Allergic reactions to Folbee are extremely rare.
Take Folbee as directed by your physician. Taking excessive amounts of B vitamins can over time result in lasting nerve damage.
