What is Prenate Restore?
Prenate Restore is a brand-name prescription multivitamin for nursing women. It is formulated to support the growth of a nursing infant with vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids (DHA) as well as help the mother recover and maintain her health after giving birth.
Active ingredients in Prenate Restore include vitamin B6, B9, B12, C, D3, E, iron, calcium, magnesium, and DHA. Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), folate (vitamin B9), and vitamin B12 are important to cell growth and metabolism in the infant. Prenate Restore also includes iron (ferrous asparto glycinate and ferrous fumarate) to prevent iron-deficiency anemia in the nursing mother and support blood growth in the infant. Vitamin D and calcium are critical ingredients for the infant's bone growth. DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, supports the growth of an infant's brain and retina.
Prenate Restore also includes probiotics to help support the growth of “friendly” bacteria in the mother's digestive system to ensure better absorption of nutrients.
Prenate Restore is taken as a multivitamin/multimineral soft gel.
What are the side effects of Prenate Restore?
Side effects from multivitamins, though rare, include, but are not limited to, constipation, diarrhea, or upset stomach. Allergic reactions to vitamins are very rare.
Multivitamins with minerals, such as Prenate Restore, taken in large doses can result in side effects from excess mineral intake, such as stomach upset, muscle weakness, stomach bleeding, tooth staining, and even heavy metal poisoning. Always follow the dosage recommended in the instructions or by your prescribing physician.
