What is Ztlido?

Ztlido is a prescription medicine that is used to relieve nerve pain after shingles, which is caused by the herpes zoster virus. This type of pain is usually referred to as neuropathic pain. Ztlido works by causing a temporary loss of feeling in the area where you apply the lidocaine patch and it reduces any sharp, burning, or aching pain on the skin. This prescription medicine belongs to the local anesthetics drug class. This medication has not been tested for use in children.

Do not use Ztlido if you are allergic to any part of it. Do not use this lidocaine patch on broken or irritated skin.

Before using Ztlido tell your doctor if you have any other medical conditions. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you need to tell your healthcare provider. Ztlido may pass through your breast milk. If you are taking any medications you need to tell your doctor including all prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, and herbal supplements. If you are taking medications for an irregular heartbeat or pain, you should also tell your healthcare providers.

Only use Ztlido as prescribed by your doctor. Ztlido topical system should only be worn a single time for up to 12 hours within a 24-hour period. Avoid getting the Ztlido patch wet as it may not stick if it does. Avoid getting Ztlido in contact with your eyes. If it does come into contact with your eye, wash out the eye with water or saline, and protect the eye until sensation returns. Do not apply external heat sources, such as a heating pad, to the site of application while wearing a patch.

Common side effects of Ztlido include irritation, redness, and itching where the patch was applied.

If you have signs of methemoglobinemia, call your doctor right away. Symptoms of methemoglobinemia include pale, gray, or blue-colored skin or cyanosis, headache, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, and fatigue.
