What is Anecream?
Anecream is a non-prescription topical cream with lidocaine that relieves pain due to minor skin injuries, such as cuts, scrapes, insect bites, sunburn, first-degree burns, and skin irritations.The active ingredient in Anecream, lidocaine, is a local anesthetic that numbs the skin by shutting down nerve signals. As a result, Anecream temporarily relieves pain at the site of the skin injury.Anecream is sold as a 4% lidocaine and a 5% lidocaine formula, both available without a prescription. Anecream is applied to the affected area of the skin as a thin layer three to four times a day. Do not overuse this cream or apply it to large areas of the skin, raw surfaces, blisters, or serious injuries.
What are the side effects of Anecream?
Some but not all common side effects of Anecream are primarily site reactions to the active or inactive ingredients and include stinging, burning, itching, redness, or tenderness.
Lidocaine, the active ingredient in Anecream, can be absorbed into the body, especially if Anecream is overused. Anecream has a lidocaine content that is higher than many lidocaine prescription creams and is only meant to be used on a small patch of skin a 3-4 times a day. It is not meant to be used on blisters, raw areas, or serious wounds where it can be absorbed into the body. Common side effects of misuse or overuse of Anecream or rapid absorption of the active ingredient, lidocaine, include, but are not limited to, headache, nausea, vomiting, tremor, ringing in the ears, double vision, and drowsiness. Mental and mood changes include lightheadedness, nervousness, apprehension, euphoria, and confusion. The most serious side effects of lidocaine absorbed into the body are low blood pressure, seizures, unconsciousness, respiratory depression, slow heartbeat, and cardiac arrest if Anecream is recklessly overused.
Allergic reactions are possible and could be severe, including anaphylaxis, a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Discontinue use at the first sign of an allergic reaction, such as rash, swelling, or trouble breathing.
