What is Vusion?
Vusion is commonly used in children to treat diaper rash with a yeast infection, along with proper cleaning of the diaper area and frequent diaper changes. Miconazole, one of the active ingredients in Vusion, is an azole antifungal that works by preventing the growth of fungus. Zinc oxide, the other ingredient, is a mineral that forms a barrier on the skin to protect it from moisture and irritation.
If your child is younger than 4 weeks old you should not use the ointment form of this Vusion. To ensure Vusion is safe for your child to use, tell your pediatrician if your child has ever had a condition that has weakened their immune system.
While using Vusion you should not cover the treated skin areas with tight-fitting, synthetic clothing that does not allow air to circulate to your skin. The area should be kept as dry as possible. For this drug to be effective it should be used for the full length of time it has been prescribed. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.
What are the side effects of Vusion?
The most common side effects of Vusion include blistering, burning, crusting, dryness, flaking, itching, scaling, severe redness, soreness, or swelling of the skin.
