Is there a generic of Vaseretic?
Vaseretic is a brand-name prescription drug manufactured by Bausch Health Companies Inc. The generic version of this drug is enalapril-hydrochlorothiazide.
What is Vaseretic?
Vaseretic is an FDA-approved prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. Lowering high blood pressure helps to reduce the risk of heart attacks, stroke, and kidney problems. This product contains two medications, enalapril, and hydrochlorothiazide. Enalapril works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow through the body more easily. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that causes your body to get rid of extra salt and water.
Vaseretic is available in the form of an oral tablet that can be taken with or without food, usually once daily. If you use Vaseretic too close to bedtime, you may need to wake up to urinate. Therefore, it is best to use this medication for at least four hours before your bedtime. Your doctor will recommend an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition, other drugs you are currently taking, and your response to treatment.
Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. Continue using this medication until the full prescribed amount is completed, even if you feel well. Most patients with high blood pressure do not feel sick.
What are the side effects of Vaseretic?
Dizziness, lightheadedness, or tiredness are common side effects that may occur when taking Vaseretic. These effects are usually temporary and eventually go away as your body becomes accustomed to treatment. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of these effects and they persist or worsen. Many patients using this medication do not have any serious side effects.
Seek immediate medical attention if you begin to experience serious side effects such as joint pain, irregular heartbeat, decrease in vision, eye pain, easy bruising or bleeding, or muscle weakness.
