What is Temodar?
Temodar is a brand-name prescription drug used as the initial treatment and maintenance for certain types of brain cancers (glioblastoma and astrocytoma). Temodar is started after tumors have been surgically removed and is administered along with radiation therapy to eliminate any residual cancer cells. For astrocytoma, a cancer where the brain and spinal cord tumors are made up of star-shaped cancer cells, Temodar is started only after treatment with nitrosourea and procarbazine has not succeeded in stopping the growth of the cancer.
