What is Tamsulosin Hcl?

Tamsulosin Hcl is an FDA-approved prescription medication used to treat the signs and symptoms of an enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This medication does not shrink the prostate. It works by relaxing the prostate gland and bladder muscles to relieve certain BPH symptoms, such as difficulty urinating or a frequent urge to urinate. Tamsulosin Hcl belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha blockers.

Read and follow the instructions provided in the medication leaflet. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist for medical advice if you are uncertain about how to use this medication. Tamsulosin Hcl comes in the form of an oral tablet and is usually taken once daily after a meal. This medication should be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
