What is Jalyn?
Jalyn is a combination drug that treats enlarged prostate due to an increase in the number of cells in the prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH) and relieves urination problems due to an enlarged prostate. The active ingredients of Jalyn are dutasteride and tamsulosin.
Dutasteride blocks a molecule in the body that converts testosterone into a more active form that causes prostate enlargement. This then relieves many of the symptoms of an enlarged prostate, such as excessive urination or trouble urinating.
Tamsulosin relaxes the muscles in the prostate and the area of the bladder that connects to the urethra, making it easier and more comfortable to urinate.
It may take three to six months for Jalyn to have any noticeable effects on the common symptoms of BPH.
What are the side effects of Jalyn?
The most common side effects of dutasteride are sexual problems resulting from lower levels of testosterone: decreased interest in sex, inability to have or keep an erection, impotence, and a decrease in sperm or semen.
