What is Soliqua?
Soliqua is a prescription drug that is used to improve blood sugar levels in adults diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes causes the body to develop either insulin resistance or insulin deficiency. With insulin glargine and lixisenatide as its active ingredients, Soliqua manages blood sugar levels. Soliqua is a subcutaneous solution that is injected into the skin to help the pancreas to release more insulin to maintain low blood sugar levels. Soliqua also delivers blood sugar to the muscles in order to properly store glucose.
Before taking Soliqua, you should have a medical consultation with your healthcare provider to see if Soliqua is right for you. Soliqua is often recommended to be taken along with having a balanced diet and exercise. Your healthcare professional should provide you with medical advice on dosages and proper safety instructions.
If you have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, it is not recommended for you to take Soliqua.
