Methscopolamine Bromide is an FDA-approved generic prescription medication used with other drugs to treat certain types of stomach or intestinal ulcers such as peptic ulcers. However, Methscopolamine Bromide is not effective in healing ulcers, preventing other problems caused by ulcers, or preventing them from returning. This medication works by decreasing the amount of acid in the stomach. It also slows the natural movements of the gut and relaxes the muscles in the stomach. Methscopolamine Bromide belongs to a class of drugs known as anticholinergics.
Methscopolamine Bromide is available in the form of an oral tablet that is usually used four times daily, 30 minutes before meals, and at bedtime. Your doctor will recommend an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition, other drugs you are currently taking, and your response to treatment. Do not increase your dose or take this drug more often than recommended by your doctor. Your condition will not improve any faster and the risk of serious side effects may increase.
