Anaspaz is a prescription anticholinergic/antispasmodic medication used to treat a variety of intestinal problems such as cramps and irritable bowel syndrome. It may also be used to treat other conditions such as bowel control problems, cramping pain caused by kidney stones, and Parkinson's disease. This medication works by decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach, slowing down the natural movements of the gut, and relaxing muscles in organs such as the bladder and kidneys.
Anaspaz is available in the form of disintegrating oral tablets that may be taken with or without water. Place this medication on your tongue and let it quickly dissolve before swallowing. Your doctor will recommend an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition, other drugs you are currently taking, and your response to treatment.
