The most common possible side effects of Latanoprost are local to the eye and include blurred vision, burning, stinging, itching, inflammation, foreign body sensation, dry or red eyes, and eyelash growth.
Serious side effects, such as a serious allergic reaction, may occur in rare cases. If you have signs of an allergic reaction such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, get emergency medical help.
This medication may cause a gradual change in your eye color or the color of your eyelids and eyelashes, usually an increase in brown pigment. Some individuals will notice increased eyelash thickness or growth. These changes are gradual, and you may not notice them for months or even years. Color changes may be permanent, even if you stop taking Latanoprost. If you are only using Latanoprost in one eye, and have color changes, this could result in a cosmetic difference in eye color or eyelash color from one eye to the other.
People who are allergic to Latanoprost (or any similar drugs) or a preservative called benzalkonium chloride should not take Latanoprost.
