Torsemide is a diuretic drug that treats swelling (edema) caused by heart failure, kidney disease, and liver disease. This medication helps the body get rid of extra water and salt.

Torsemide belongs to a class of diuretics called loop diuretics. Torsemide works by blocking the reabsorption of water and salt in the ascending loop of Henle and the distal collecting tubule. Torsemide may be administered as an oral tablet that comes in strengths of 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, and 100 mg. 

What are the side effects of Torsemide?

The most common side effect of Torsemide is increased urination. Other side effects may include dizziness and lightheadedness. Contact a healthcare provider if side effects develop, persist, or worsen while taking Torsemide.
