This medication is not approved for use in individuals younger than 18 years old.

Do not use Atenolol if you have a serious heart condition such as AV block, heart failure, or a very slow heartbeat known as bradycardia. Before using Atenolol, tell your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you may have, including if you have a history of heart problems, asthma, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, or an overactive thyroid. If you are pregnant or become pregnant while using Atenolol let your doctor know right away. How long does it take Atenolol to lower your heart rate?
