What is Pennsaid?
Pennsaid topical solution is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat osteoarthritis of the knee.
In its oral form, diclofenac can also treat pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Pennsaid works by reducing substances in the body that cause inflammation and pain. Pennsaid is not approved for use in patients under 18 years old.
What are the side effects of Pennsaid?
People using topical Pennsaid may experience local side effects such as dryness or irritation at the application site, redness, and acne.
Other side effects are less common, because Pennsaid is applied topically but can potentially occur. GI symptoms like stomach pain, constipation, and gas may occur in some cases.
