What is Diclofenac Sodium?
Diclofenac Sodium is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, swelling (inflammation), and joint stiffness caused by arthritis. This prescription drug is also indicated for the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis and other inflammatory conditions. Diclofenac Sodium works by reducing substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation.
Before taking Diclofenac Sodium, tell your doctor about all of the other medicines you take, including over-the-counter and prescription drugs, vitamins, and supplements. Tell your doctor about any medical conditions you have. Do not take Diclofenac Sodium if you are pregnant.
If you have heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or if you smoke, or have a history of heart attack, stroke, or blood clot, a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding, asthma, liver or kidney disease, or fluid retention, then be sure to share this information with your doctor.
