Nplate (romiplostim) is an FDA-approved brand-name prescription drug that stimulates the bone marrow to make platelets, the blood cells responsible for blood clotting. Nplate is prescribed to people with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), who have not responded to other treatments. ITP is a condition in which the body's immune system “misfires” and attacks blood platelets.
Nplate is generally administered as an in-office once-weekly subcutaneous injection performed by a healthcare professional. Nplate is not purchased in pharmacies. Continue to our FAQs section for more information about Nplate: how it works, possible side effects, how much Nplate costs, and how you can save money on your Nplate prescription. Nplate costs $3,492.09 at full retail price. A SingleCare Nplate coupon reduces that price to $2,501.20. Ask the clinic where you receive your Nplate injection if they will accept a SingleCare Nplate coupon; you could pay our lowest price of $2,501.20.

Nplate is a brand-name prescription drug that is not available as a generic.
Nplate is a brand-name prescription medication that stimulates the bone marrow to produce platelets. When a blood vessel gets damaged, platelets are the tiny cells that gather around the damage and initiate and glue together to form blood clots that repair the damage.
Nplate is prescribed to patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), an autoimmune condition in which the immune system mistakenly attacks platelets. As platelet cell counts drop, people with ITP are at risk for excessive bleeding and bruising.
The active ingredient in Nplate, romiplostim, works by telling the bone marrow to make more platelets.
Nplate is administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection by a healthcare provider. Nplate is used in both children (1 year or older) and adults as a second-line treatment after other treatments have not succeeded. Nplate can also be used to increase survival in children (any age) and adults who have been exposed to radiation doses high enough to suppress the bone marrow.
The most common side effects of Nplate are muscle or joint pain, dizziness, insomnia, pain in the extremities, stomach pain, shoulder pain, indigestion, headache, and numbness/tingling.
Nplate increases the number of platelets in the blood, the cells responsible for blood clotting. As a result, the most serious side effects of Nplate are blood clot problems: stroke, blood clots in the lungs, and blood clots in the leg. Other serious side effects include ear infections, especially in children.
Allergic reactions are rare. Watch for allergic reactions to Nplate such as hives, wheezing, difficulty breathing, faintness, or sore throat. If you experience any of these effects, get emergency medical help.
This is not a complete list of possible side effects. Consult with your prescribing physician and pharmacist for additional information and medical advice about side effects before starting on Nplate.
