How much does Injectafer cost without insurance?

Injectafer is never sold by local pharmacies or purchased by patients. Instead, it is purchased by hospitals or clinics from specialty pharmacies and injected as an IV at the hospital or clinic.

The retail price of Injectafer without insurance averages $1,785.04. If the hospital or clinic accepts a SingleCare discount card, you pay only $1,447.11 for that same Injectafer prescription of 1, 15ml of 750mg/15ml Vial.

How much does Injectafer cost with insurance?

Injectafer is very expensive, so copay costs of Injectafer vary dramatically depending on your insurance plan. Many insurance plans, however, classify Injectafer as a medical benefit rather than a prescription drug, so an injection will not incur a separate copay cost. With SingleCare, Injectafer costs as little as $1,447.11 for 1, 15ml of 750mg/15ml Vial. Injectafer is never sold by local pharmacies or purchased by patients. Instead, it is purchased and administered by hospitals or clinics from specialty pharmacies. Ask your hospital case manager if they accept a SingleCare Injectafer coupon.

Does Medicare cover Injectafer and how much does it cost?

Medicare prescription drug programs do not cover Injectafer because it is considered a medical benefit. However, Medicare Part B will cover Injectafer as a medical benefit, so the copay cost will be $0.

For patients without Medicare, SingleCare offers discount coupons for Injectafer which may reduce the cost of Injectafer to $1,447.11. Ask your clinic or your hospital's case manager about the eligibility of a SingleCare savings card.

Is there a generic of Injectafer?

Injectafer is a brand-name prescription drug. There is no generic version available at this time.

What is Injectafer?

Injectafer (ferric carboxymaltose) is a two-dose injectable prescription iron supplement that helps the body produce red blood cells, which are critical in delivering oxygen to the body's cells. Injectafer is prescribed to patients with iron deficiency anemia who have failed to improve after using oral iron supplements, or cannot tolerate them.

Injectafer is injected two times, at least seven days apart. It is administered as an IV by a healthcare professional. The infusion will take about 15 minutes. Because of the possibility of an adverse reaction, the patient must remain for observation for 30 minutes or more.

Injectafer is never sold by local pharmacies, like CVS, or purchased by patients because the patient must be monitored by a healthcare professional. Instead, it is purchased by hospitals or clinics from specialty pharmacies and administered at the hospital or clinic.

What are the side effects of Injectafer?

Common side effects of Injectafer include, but are not limited to, nausea, high blood pressure, flushing, and dizziness.

Allergic reactions to Injectafer are rare but can be very serious. An Injectafer injection can result in serious reactions, such as anaphylactic shock, low blood pressure, unconsciousness, and death, so it is standard practice for a patient to be observed for 30 minutes or more after the IV. Other serious allergic reactions include rash, shortness of breath, and wheezing. Tell your doctor of all your medical conditions before treatment.

Consult your physician or healthcare provider for additional information and medical advice.
