What is Aerobika?
Aerobika is an oscillating positive expiratory pressure (OPEP) device that helps to thin and loosen mucus, helping move it to the larger airways of your lungs where it can be coughed out. The excess build-up of mucus in the lungs is a very common symptom of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, and Chronic Bronchitis. This device works by opening the airways in your lungs to allow loosen mucus to be expelled. The Aerobika OPEP device provides a drug-free, natural airway clearance therapy.
Place the Monaghan Aerobika oscillating device mouthpiece in the mouth and close lips around it to form an effective seal. Inhale through the device and hold for two to three seconds before exhaling. Exhale actively while maintaining a good seal on the mouthpiece. Continue this for 10 to 20 breaths or as advised by your healthcare professional. If you use a nebulizer, your doctor may combine treatment methods to reduce therapy time.
Most treatments with this OPEP device last for as long as twenty minutes. The entire procedure should be performed at least twice daily on a regular basis. If you are producing a lot of mucus, you should increase your use to three or four times daily. No refills or batteries are required for this device. Talk to your doctor for advice on how often to use this treatment. This device is not an asthma inhaler and should not be used for emergency medical situations.
What are the side effects of Aerobika?
The Aerobika OPEP Therapy system is generally safe and effective to use and does not cause any unwanted side effects. Do not use this device if you have had recent facial, oral, or skull surgery or trauma, acute sinusitis, or active bleeding from the lungs. Using Aerobika while suffering from any of these conditions may worsen your situation.
Ask your doctor or healthcare provider for professional medical advice on the risks and benefits involved with using Aerobika as this is not a complete list of side effects.
