Taztia Xt is a prescription drug used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and prevent chest pain caused by angina. Having your blood pressure controlled helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Taztia Xt can decrease the number and severity of episodes of chest pain from angina. Taztia Xt is referred to as a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing blood vessels in the body and heart so blood can flow more easily. Diltiazem also lowers your heart rate. These effects help the heart work less hard and lower blood pressure.
Before using Taztia Xt, let your healthcare provider know about all drugs you've used in the past two weeks (prescription or OTC, natural products, vitamins) and medical conditions. You must check to make sure that it is safe for you to take Taztia Xt with all of your drugs and health problems. If you are using Taztia Xt and have high blood pressure, discuss using OTC products that may raise blood pressure with your doctor. These include cough or cold drugs, diet pills, stimulants, ibuprofen or like products, and some natural products or aids.
