Infanrix is a brand-name DtaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis) vaccine. Other brand-name DtaP vaccines include Boostrix, Daptacel, Infanrix, and Quadrecel. There are no generic DtaP vaccines available at this time. However, clinics and hospitals choose the brand of DTaP vaccine and purchase that brand from specialty pharmacies. Search for these DTaP vaccine brands on the SingleCare website or app for more information and savings coupons.
Infanrix is a brand-name vaccine that provides active immunity from diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP) bacterial infections.
The immunizing ingredients in Infanrix are diphtheria and tetanus toxoids (toxins that are no longer toxic) and acellular pertussis (“aP,” or the dead contents of pertussis bacteria cells). These toxoids and cellular material do not cause an infection but do provoke an immune response in the body. The immune system produces antibodies against the bacteria that will provide a years-long line of defense against future infections.Infanrix is injected as a 5 dose in children at ages 2 months, 4 months, and 6 months. Booster shots are administered at 15-20 months of age and 4 to 6 years. Infanrix is usually administered into the thigh muscle.
Although not a complete list, common side effects of Infanrix include, but are not limited to, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, joint pain, and body aches. Site reactions to the injection are common and include redness, pain, swelling, and a hard lump at the needle site. Injection site reactions will go away after one or two days. Allergic reactions are very rare and include rash, itching, and swelling at the injection site.
