Incruse Ellipta is an FDA-approved prescription medication used to prevent airflow obstruction and bronchospasms experienced by patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Bronchospasms are the sudden tightening of the muscles in the passage to your lungs.
This medication belongs to a group of prescription drugs known as anticholinergics. They work by relaxing muscles in your airways to improve your ability to breathe.
Incruse Ellipta should not be used in emergency situations as it is not a rescue medication and will not work fast enough to treat a bronchospasm attack. You should only use a fast-acting inhalation medication for such an attack. Do not use Incruse Ellipta if you are allergic to milk protein, umeclidinium or if you are younger than 18 years of age.
Incruse Ellipta comes in the form of an inhalation powder and is applied through the use of a special inhaler device. It should only be used as advised by your doctor. This inhaler device works with preloaded blister packs that contain measured dosages of the medication. You should not clean and reuse this inhaler device. Always use a new inhaler device, which is provided with your refills.
Incruse Ellipta works effectively in preventing the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; however, it may also cause some unwanted side effects. Some of these may include bladder pain, fainting, fever, loss of voice, sore throat, unusual tiredness, and irregular heartbeats.
Most side effects of Incruse Ellipta do not require medical attention and typically go away as your body becomes accustomed to the medication. If you do experience any of these side effects and they persist or worsen, you should contact your healthcare provider for medical advice. This is not a complete list of side effects. Check with your healthcare professional to find out about all the risks and benefits involved with Incruse Ellipta before you start using it
