Read and follow the instructions provided in the medication leaflet that comes with Famciclovir. If you are uncertain about how to use this medication, then talk to your doctor or pharmacist for guidance. Famciclovir comes in the form of an oral tablet and can be taken with or without food. This medication works best when used at the first sign of an outbreak (when symptoms such as tingling, burning, and/or blisters occur). Your doctor will recommend an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition, other drugs you are currently taking, and your response to treatment.

Famciclovir works best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Taking this medication at evenly spaced intervals will help you to maintain these levels. Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is complete. Do not change your dose or skip any doses of this medication without your doctor's approval.
