What is Ery-Tab?

Ery-Tab is also prescribed to prevent initial or recurrent attacks of rheumatic fever, a condition that results from inadequate treatment of strep or scarlet fever infections. Ery-Tab is also prescribed to treat “traveller's diarrhea” (intestinal amebiasis), an amoeba infection.
The active ingredient in Ery-Tab, erythromycin, prevents the growth of bacteria. It belongs to a class of drugs called macrolide antibiotics which prevent bacteria cells from making proteins they need to make copies of themselves.
Ery-Tab is administered as a tablet four times a day. The dose will depend on the age of the patient as well as the nature of the underlying condition and its responsiveness to treatment.
