What is Desoximetasone?
This topical steroid medication is available in the form of an ointment. Desoximetasone treats skin conditions such as allergic reactions, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, and rash. Desoximetasone lessens the swelling, itching, and redness that can occur in these types of conditions. It works by reducing the actions of chemicals in the body that cause inflammation.
Desoximetasone is usually applied twice a day. A thin film of the medication is usually applied to the affected areas. It is not recommended to cover treated skin areas with a bandage or other covering unless instructed by your doctor, as this can cause your skin to absorb more medicine which may cause unwanted side effects. IF you miss a dose of Desoximetasone, it is recommended to use it as soon as you remember. Use this prescription drug exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use the medication in larger amounts or for longer than recommended.
Before taking Desoximetasone, inform your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription or herbal products that you use, especially oral corticosteroids or drugs that suppress the immune system. To ensure Desoximetasone is safe for you, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have any type of skin infection or if you have diabetes. The glucose/sugar levels in your blood or urine may rise as topical steroid medicines like Desoximetasone are absorbed through the skin.
