What is Arixtra?

The active ingredient in Arixtra, fondaparinux, is an anticoagulant that prevents blood clotting.
Arixtra is started 6 to 8 hours after surgery or within three days of a DVT or PE diagnosis and continued daily for five to nine days. Arixtra is an injection that must be injected beneath the skin and never into the muscles. For this reason, Arixtra is usually administered by a healthcare professional. What are the side effects of Arixtra?
