Aquaphor is a brand-name family of skin-care products to help relieve dry skin and eczema, dry or chapped lips, and as a protectant for minor skin wounds. The active ingredient in all Aquaphor products except the lip balm is petrolatum, better known as petroleum jelly. Petrolatum is a skin protectant that provides a barrier between the skin and the environment.
Other active ingredients include lanolin and mineral oil (emollients that cover the skin to make it feel smoother), bisabolol (a possible anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial substance), and panthenol, which is converted into vitamin B5 by the body.
