What is Ssd?

Ssd is a brand-name sulfonamide antibiotic cream that is used to prevent infections and treat wounds in patients with second and third-degree burns. It works by fighting bacteria and yeast on the skin. Ssd should not be used on premature babies or infants younger than two months old.

Do not use Ssd if you are allergic to sulfa antibiotics.

Before using Ssd you should check with your doctor to ensure it is safe for you to do so. If you have a history of liver disease, kidney disease, or G6PD deficiency (genetic enzyme deficiency), you should tell your healthcare provider before using Ssd.
