What is Scopolamine? 

Scopolamine is a patch that is worn on a hairless area of skin behind the ear and works for three days. Scopolamine can be used in adults to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness. Scopolamine is also prescribed to adults to prevent nausea and vomiting after certain types of surgery or anesthesia. Scopolamine is a generic medicine and is often referred to by the brand name, Transderm-Scop. 

Scopolamine is not approved in children or teenagers under the age of 18 years old. However, some healthcare providers prescribe this medicine off-label (for a use that is not approved by the FDA) in adolescents who are 12 years or older to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness or to prevent nausea and vomiting after surgery.
