Lorzone is a brand-name prescription drug. The generic version of Lorzone is chlorzoxazone.
Lorzone is an FDA-approved prescription medication used to treat muscle spasms and pain resulting from it. It is usually used along with physical therapy, rest, and other treatments. This medication works by helping to relax the muscles and blocking pain sensations between the nerves and the brain.
This muscle relaxer medication comes in the form of 750 mg and 375 mg tablets. These can be taken with or without food. Your doctor will prescribe an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition and your body's response to this treatment. You should not increase or decrease your dose or use this medication for longer than prescribed. Your condition will not improve any faster and your risk of side effects will most likely increase.
Use this muscle relaxant medication consistently to experience maximum benefit. If you are using this medication over multiple weeks and you do not notice any improvement in your condition then you should contact your doctor.
Common side effects that may occur while using Lorzone include drowsiness, tiredness, upset stomach, skin rash, headaches, and dizziness. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of these effects and they get worse.
In some cases, this medication may cause your urine to turn reddish-purple or orange. This is a harmless effect and usually disappears once the medication is stopped. Seek immediate medical attention if you begin to notice signs of serious side effects such as confusion, black/bloody stools, vomit resembling coffee grounds, bruising, bleeding, or signs of an infection.
Lorzone may rarely cause very serious, and possibly fatal, liver disease. Stop using this medication right away and get medical help if you start to develop symptoms of liver disease such as persistent nausea, vomiting, yellowing of the eyes or skin, and dark urine.
This is not a complete list of side effects. Other effects not listed here may also occur while you are taking this medication. Check with your healthcare provider for complete medical advice on the risks and benefits involved with using Lorzone.
