The cost of Jardiance depends on several different factors, including your insurance coverage, your prescribed dosage and quantity, and the pharmacy where you shop. The average cash price for a 30-day supply of 30, 25MG Tablet is $835.32 without insurance. Fortunately, patients who take this medication can use a free Jardiance discount card to lower their out-of-pocket costs to $526.19 per 30, 25mg Tablet.
Because copays vary by healthcare plan, you'll have to check with your pharmacist or health insurance provider to get an accurate price for Jardiance. The actual cost for Jardiance with insurance can also vary based on the quantity and dosage prescribed. Compare your total cost with insurance to the cost with SingleCare, which could be as low as $526.19 for 30, 25mg Tablet. You may opt to pay the retail price of Jardiance with free SingleCare coupons rather than using your insurance coverage.
Jardiance is covered by most Medicare and insurance plans. Still, using coverage from healthcare plans may not be the cheapest option. Compare the cost with Medicare to the price with a SingleCare savings card. Our Jardiance savings card could lower the total cost to a more affordable price. For instance, you could pay $526.19 for 30, 25mg Tablet.
If you're underinsured or uninsured, you're probably exploring how to get maximum savings on this prescription drug. You should always run your SingleCare card at your local pharmacy before you pay for a prescription drug. Many of our customers find that a SingleCare discount is better than the drug copay with insurance or other coupons.
Due to the current patent on the brand-name drug Jardiance, there won't be a generic alternative to Jardiance until 2025. However, the time it takes for a generic alternative to be available could be even longer than that. While you wait for a cheaper generic to be approved and released in the U.S., you can use SingleCare coupons for Jardiance. With SingleCare, you could get a discount and pay as low as $526.19 for 30, 25mg Tablet.
Jardiance (empagliflozin) prevents your kidneys from reabsorbing glucose, or sugar, and causes excess sugar to be excreted from the body in the urine. It's used to manage blood sugar levels in people with Type 2 diabetes. It has been approved to treat Type 2 diabetes—not Type 1 diabetes.
Jardiance is also approved to reduce the risk of death from a stroke or heart attack in people with heart failure or heart disease. Jardiance can also be used to lower the risk of kidney complications, heart-related death, and hospitalization in adults with chronic kidney problems.
Jardiance is available as a tablet that is taken by mouth once daily in the morning, with or without food. Jardiance is available in strengths of 10 mg and 25 mg. Your doctor may adjust your dosage based on your overall medical condition and your response to treatment.
Jardiance starts working relatively quickly, within one to two weeks, to start improving blood sugar levels. However, it can take up to 24 weeks for Jardiance to start producing maximum results with blood sugar control. It’s important to take Jardiance every day to ensure maximum benefits.
Common side effects of Jardiance include urinary tract infections and vaginal yeast infections. Other common side effects may include nausea, joint pain, and high cholesterol.
Serious side effects of Jardiance include low blood sugar (especially if you take other medications for diabetes), kidney problems, serious UTIs, serious bacterial infections of the skin, vaginal yeast infections, and serious allergic reactions. Seek emergency medical attention if you experience hives, a rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing while taking Jardiance. This medication can cause serious infections around the penis or vagina. Seek medical help immediately if you have a fever or any symptoms around the genital or rectal area, such as burning, itching, odor, pain, tenderness, redness, swelling, or discharge.
This is not a complete list of possible side effects, and others may occur. Consult a healthcare professional for more information on other possible side effects, precautions, or warnings before taking Jardiance.
Before taking Jardiance, tell your doctor if you have a history of low blood pressure. Jardiance may cause a decrease in blood pressure, especially when standing up from a sitting down or lying down position. Your healthcare provider may prescribe a different medicine that does not affect blood pressure if you already have low blood pressure or a low blood volume.
There are other drugs available that are part of the SGLT2 inhibitor drug class. These drugs include Invokana (canagliflozin) and Farxiga (dapagliflozin), which are comparable in safety and effectiveness to Jardiance. These brand-name alternatives are used to control blood sugar levels and treat Type 2 diabetes. Your doctor will help you determine which drug is best for you. If this class of drugs is not appropriate for you, there are also various other types of drugs for Type 2 diabetes.
There are no generic alternatives of brand-name SGLT2 inhibitors available in the United States. Certain diabetes medications are available as generic drugs that may be cheaper than Jardiance. These medications are some of the oldest-known diabetes medications and include sulfonylureas. Metformin is another cornerstone drug used for Type 2 diabetes that is generic and can be obtained for relatively low prices. Consult your healthcare professional for medical advice on the best treatment for you.
You may be able to take Jardiance and metformin at the same time, depending on your doctor's recommendations. Many people who initially take metformin for Type 2 diabetes are unable to achieve their target blood sugar levels with metformin alone. Jardiance may be added to metformin to better control blood sugar levels, in combination with diet and exercise. Your doctor will determine the right dosage of each drug for your specific medical condition and response to treatment. One medication called Synjardy combines metformin with the active ingredient in Jardiance, empagliflozin.
Jardiance and Entresto are medications approved for use in people with heart failure. However, they contain different active ingredients and work in different ways.
Jardiance is an SGLT2 inhibitor that decreases the reabsorption of sugar by the kidneys. It also reduces sodium. These actions help lower the heart’s workload.
Entresto contains a combination of two drugs. Valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), works by reducing blood vessel tightening and sodium and fluid buildup. Sacubitril, a neprilysin inhibitor, works by relaxing blood vessels and reducing sodium and fluid in the body.
Jardiance also has other uses, such as for Type 2 diabetes, while Entresto is only approved for heart failure. Jardiance is typically taken once daily. Entresto, on the other hand, is usually taken twice daily. They also have other differences, such as side effects and warnings. Consult your healthcare provider for more information.
