Veltassa is a prescription drug used to treat high levels of potassium in your blood (hyperkalemia). This drug works by binding to the potassium in your digestive tract and prevents the body from absorbing too much. Veltassa can also assist your body in getting rid of excess potassium through your bowel movements. This medication differs from others in that it goes through the stomach and into the intestines without being absorbed into your bloodstream.
This medicine is not approved for anyone under 18 years old. Do not take this drug if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
