Rectiv is an FDA-approved rectal ointment used to treat pain caused by chronic anal fissures. Rectiv decreases pressure in the anus by dilating blood vessels. It is used to treat pain caused by anal fissures which are tears in the skin lining of the anus. Rectiv is not approved for use by patients who are younger than 18 years old.
You should use Rectiv exactly as it is prescribed by your healthcare professional. Do not use this medication in smaller or larger amounts or for longer than recommended by your doctor. Do not drive immediately after you apply Rectiv. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded after you apply Rectiv, do not drive until the dizziness goes away.
