Although this medication can be used by children, their dosage will be based on their weight.
Do not use Methimazole if you are allergic to it or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Before taking Methimazole, tell your doctor about any other medical conditions you may have, especially if you have liver disease, a blood cell disorder, or a weakened immune system. If you are pregnant or become pregnant while taking Methimazole you should tell your doctor immediately as this medication can harm an unborn baby. Methimazole can also lower your body's ability to fight infections and your blood's ability to clot. Consult your doctor right away if you have signs of infection with symptoms such as fever, chills, sore throat, weakness, other cold or flu symptoms, pale skin, easy bruising, or unusual bleeding. Tell your doctor immediately if you have swollen glands, nausea, stomach pain, itching, tiredness, appetite, loss, yellow skin/eyes, dark urine, or light stools.
If you have signs of an allergic reaction such as hives, rash, peeling or blistered skin, trouble breathing, and/or swelling of your face, lips, throat, and tongue, you should get immediate medical attention.
