How much does Meropenem cost without insurance?

For cash-paying customers, an infusion of Meropenem costs $372.20 for 12, 1GM Solution Reconstituted of Meropenem. With a SingleCare Meropenem coupon, you will pay only $53.39 for that same infusion if the hospital or clinic where you receive Meropenem infusions will accept SingleCare.

How much does Meropenem cost with insurance?

Your copay for Meropenem with insurance will vary depending on your plan and the price charged by the hospital or clinic for the infusion. However, Meropenem may be covered by your health insurance as a medical benefit rather than a prescription drug benefit. Ask the clinic or hospital where you receive the infusion if they will accept a SingleCare Meropenem coupon—you could pay only $53.39.

Does Medicare cover Meropenem and how much does it cost?

Meropenem is usually covered under Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage prescription drug plans, but may also be covered under Medicare Part B as a medical benefit. Talk to your Medicare prescription drug insurance agent or representative to help clarify your coverage. You should also ask the clinic or hospital where you receive your Meropenem infusion if they will accept a SingleCare Meropenem coupon. If they do, you could pay only $53.39.

What is the brand name of Meropenem?

Meropenem is a generic prescription intravenous injection manufactured by Sandoz and Fresenius Kabi, among others. Pfizer manufactures the brand-name version of Meropenem, which is called Merrem IV. If you need more drug information or savings coupons for Merrem IV, search the SingleCare website or app.

What is Meropenem?

Meropenem is an FDA-approved prescription antibiotic that treats bacterial infections: complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated skin or skin structure infections, and bacterial meningitis, an infection of the membrane that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. A complicated bacterial infection involves more damage, such as an abscess, or other conditions that may cause traditional antibiotic therapy to fail.

Meropenem works much like penicillin drugs. It kills bacteria by blocking the bacteria cell's ability to make and repair its cell wall. As a result, holes appear in the wall and the bacteria die when its contents start spilling out.

Meropenem is given as an intravenous infusion, usually every eight hours. The typical infusion takes about 15 to 30 minutes. However, depending on the dose, Meropenem may be given as an injection over three to five minutes.

What are the side effects of Meropenem?

The most common side effects of Meropenem are temporary site reactions to the infusion or injection. These include pain, irritation, redness, and soreness.

Other common side effects of Meropenem are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and headache. Severe but rare side effects include anemia and seizures.

Meropenem allergies are rare but could be severe. This includes anaphylaxis, an allergic reaction in which you have difficulty breathing and the blood pressure drops low enough to be a medical crisis. Because Meropenem infusions take place in a hospital or clinic, patients will be monitored throughout the process and afterward. Even so, if you suspect you're having an allergic reaction, immediately tell the healthcare professional monitoring your progress.

This is not a complete list of side effects that may occur. Ask your doctor for medical advice regarding possible side effects or drug interactions before taking this medicine.
