What is Lovaza used for?

Omega-3 acid Ethyl Esters is a type of fat found in fish oil and comes in the form of a liquid filled capsules. It is used along with diet and exercise to help lower levels of blood fat known as triglycerides. The most common side effects of Omega-3-Acid Ethyl Esters capsules include nausea, burping and a change in your sense of taste.

How to take Lovaza

  • Oral routeIt is best to take this medicine with food or milk.

  • Swallow the capsule whole. Do not break, crush, chew, dissolve, or open the capsule. Do not let this medicine come into contact with foam plastic cups (Styrofoam).

  • Read and follow the patient instructions that come with this medicine. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

  • Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

  • Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

  • Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed. Take this medicine at the same time each day.

  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
