Lexiscan is a stress agent that works by increasing blood flow in the arteries of the heart during a cardiac stress test, when the patient cannot adequately exercise. The active ingredient in this medication is regadenoson.
Lexiscan is available in the form of an intravenous solution. It is given as an infusion into a vein by a healthcare professional. You may also be given other intravenous medications that allow blood vessels to be seen more clearly on the radiologic examination. Your doctor will need to monitor your breathing, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and other vital signs closely during your stress test.
It is not known whether this medication will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using Lexiscan. Do not breastfeed within ten hours after receiving Lexiscan. If you use a breast pump during this time, throw out any milk you collect.
