How to save on Fetzima

Is there a generic of Fetzima?

Fetzima is the trademark brand name of levomilnacipran. There is no generic version of Fetzima available for purchase today.

What is Fetzima?

Fetzima is an FDA-approved prescription drug used to treat major depressive disorder. It is part of a class of drugs referred to as serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Fetzima is believed to work by increasing levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. These chemicals, or neurotransmitters, may be unbalanced in depression. Fetzima when used as prescribed may help to improve appetite, mood, sleep, and general interest in daily living.

Talk to your healthcare professional about any medications that you're currently taking as well as any allergies you may have before using Fetzima. You should not use this drug if you are allergic to levomilnacipran or milnacipran. You should not use Fetzima within seven days before or 14 days after you have taken an MAO inhibitor. This drug is not approved for use by anyone below the age of 18.

What are the side effects of Fetzima?

Some side effects of Fetzima may include nausea, vomiting, constipation, heart palpitations, increased heart rate, increased sweating, and suicidal thoughts. Men who take Fetzima may also experience difficulty getting or keeping an erection (erectile dysfunction). If any of these side effects persist or worsen, you should tell your doctor immediately.

This drug may also raise your blood pressure, so it is important that you monitor it regularly, especially if you have a history of high blood pressure. Tell your doctor if you have a family history of hypertension before taking this drug.

Fetzima may cause an increase in serotonin levels and, in rare cases, lead to a serious condition known as serotonin syndrome. This risk may be compounded if you are taking other drugs that also increase serotonin levels.

Consult your healthcare provider for medical advice to learn about other possible side effects, warnings, drug interactions, and precautions before taking Fetzima.
