What is Elidel?
Elidel is a topical cream used to treat symptoms of skin conditions such as mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema). Elidel can be used in adults and children 2 years and older who have not responded to other topical prescription medications. Patients who use Elidel cannot be immunocompromised.
Elidel absorbs into the affected areas of the skin where it blocks the production of inflammatory chemicals called cytokines. Elidel is an FDA-approved medication that is steroid-free.
What doses of Elidel are available?
Elidel is available in the form of a topical cream supplied in 30 g, 60 g, and 100 g tubes. The dosage contains 10 mg of pimecrolimus per 1 g of cream. It is recommended that a thin layer of Elidel is applied twice daily. However, your doctor will recommend the right dosage for you.
