What is Alosetron Hcl used for?

Lotronex is prescribed to women with severe irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with diarrhoea. Lotronex control bowel movements in women whose IBS symptoms have lasted 6 months or longer and have not been helped enough by other treatments.

How to take Alosetron Hcl

  • This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to alosetron, or if you have constipation, a bowel disease (such as a blockage, colitis, Crohn disease, or diverticulitis), or a history of blood clots.

  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have liver disease or other stomach or bowel problems.

  • Do not use alosetron if you are also using fluvoxamine.

  • Some medicines can affect how alosetron works. Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following: CimetidineMedicine to treat an infection (including clarithromycin, itraconazole, ketoconazole, telithromycin, voriconazole, or a quinolone antibiotic)Protease inhibitor medicine to treat HIV infection
