Tabloid is a brand-name prescription drug used to treat acute (short-term) leukemia that does not involve the lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell. Known also acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), cells in the bone marrow mutate and overproduce immature blood cells.
The active ingredient in Tabloid, thioguanine, interferes with the bone marrow's ability to generate white blood cells by targeting its DNA.
Tabloid is taken as a tablet once or twice daily. The total dose will depend on what other drugs are being prescribed, the effectiveness of Tabloid, and the patient's tolerance for side effects.
What are the side effects of Tabloid?
Common side effects of Tabloid include but are not limited to nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach, hair loss, itching, rash, and darkened skin color.
