What is Propylene Glycol?
Propylene Glycol is an over-the-counter medication used to relieve dry irritated eyes caused by wind, sun, air conditions, or extended computer use. This medication works by keeping the eyes moist which helps to protect the eye from injury and infection. It also decreases symptoms of dry eyes such as burning, itching, and feeling as if something is in the eye
Propylene Glycol is available as a medicated eye drop solution. Follow all the directions on the product packaging before you start using this product. Do not use this solution if it has changed color or is cloudy. Check the package labels for usage information.
Wash hands before applying these drops. To avoid contamination, do not allow the dropper to touch your eye. Always replace the cap tightly after each use. Tilt your head back, look up and pull down your lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place the dropper over your eye and squeeze one to two drops as needed. Look down and gently close your eyes for one to two minutes. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using this eye lubricant. Tell your doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen after three days of use.
