Motofen (difenoxin and atropine) is a combination prescription drug that helps treat severe diarrhea. Difenoxin slows the contraction of muscles in the intestines so that material moves through the intestines at a normal rate. Difenoxin is also a powerful narcotic that is easily abused. The atropine in Motofen discourages abuse by producing unpleasant side effects when too much Motofen is taken. The cash price of Motofen is $249.61. However, you can use SingleCare's Motofen coupon to save money and pay $210.24. SingleCare discount cards are accepted at your favorite pharmacies, such as CVS, Longs Drugs, and Walgreens.
Our price history metrics are calculated from aggregate prescription data that we receive from all participating pharmacies. This chart updates daily to show new price fluctuations. If a data point is missing from the chart, it is because we do not have enough data to produce a reliable figure.

Motofen copays vary by insurance plan and the dose prescribed. With SingleCare, Motofen costs as little as $210.24 for 30, 1-0.025mg Tablet, which may be lower than your insurance copay. Before you overpay for Motofen, ask your local pharmacist to compare your insurance copay to the SingleCare discount card.
Motofen is usually not covered by Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D prescription drug plans. For Medicare patients, a SingleCare Motofen coupon offers significant savings at major pharmacies: CVS, Target, Walgreens, and many others.
Motofen is a brand-name drug with difenoxin as the active ingredient and atropine as the anti-abuse ingredient. There are no generic.alternatives to Motofen at this time.
Motofen (difenoxin and atropine) is a combination drug that helps treat severe diarrhea. Diarrhea has many causes but is characterized by materials passing through the intestines too fast to absorb water. The active ingredient in Motofen, difenoxin, is a narcotic that blocks nerve signals in the intestines and so slows intestinal muscle contractions. Material moves through the intestines more slowly.
Difenoxin is an opioid that produces a “high” when taken in larger quantities. For that reason, Motofen includes an anti-abuse agent, atropine, which produces unpleasant side effects when too much Motofen is taken.
Motofen tablets contain 1 mg of difenoxin and 0.025 mg of atropine. Motofen treatment usually starts with two tablets. One additional tablet is taken after each loose stool, but no more than 8 tablets are taken in a day. Motofen is always discontinued after 48 hours no matter what the results.
Most people will experience some side effects when taking Motofen including drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, and tiredness because the active ingredient, difenoxin, is a narcotic.
Other mental and mood changes commonly experienced include euphoria, depression, nervousness, and insomnia. Common physical side effects include, but are not limited to, headache, nausea, blurred vision, dry mouth, upset stomach, constipation, and a burning sensation in the eyes.
The atropine in Motofen is at a subclinical dose, so side effects from the atropine will be minimal unless the recommended dosage is exceeded. These include dry skin, dry mouth, lack of sweating, headache, rapid heartbeat, loss of balance, and blurred vision. An overdose of difenoxin is like any other opioid overdose and can result in slower reflexes, slowed breathing, slowed heart rate, coma, and death.
Some patients will show allergic reactions, typically rash, hives, swelling, or trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects. Your physician should be able to address all your concerns about side effects before you take Motofen.
